What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary therapy where pressure is applied to specific points on (mainly) the feet, to promote relaxation and overall well-being. It's based on the idea that these points correspond to different organs and systems in the body, and stimulating them can help balance energy flow and support the body's natural healing processes.

Reflexology has ancient origins, with evidence of its practice in Egyptian tombs from 2330-2500 BC, and in the cultures of China, India, and Native Americans.

Benefits of Reflexology

Reflexology has numerous benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety, improving circulation, boosting the immune system, and promoting better sleep. It can also help to alleviate a range of physical and emotional symptoms, from headaches and back pain to depression and anxiety.

Examples of what reflexology may be used for are:

Pain management.  Stress and Anxiety Reduction, Improved Circulation, Immune System Support

Clinical Reflexology is a specialised form of reflexology that focuses on using the principles of reflexology to address a wider range of health issues and conditions, often in conjunction with traditional medical care. It goes beyond simply promoting relaxation and well-being and aims to support and enhance the body's natural healing abilities.

What to Expect

After an initial consultation regarding your health, you will be asked to sit in a relaxing chair.  The chair reclines as your feet are raised higher so that they can be easily worked on.  Typically, a treatment will last about one hour.  Receiving reflexology is generally very relaxing, however it is likely that there will be some points on your feet that feel uncomfortable when pressure is applied.  This indicates that there is some imbalance in the area of the body which corresponds to this point.  Applying some pressure (but not more than the client wants) on this point helps to bring about balance to that area of the body.
